Commercial Pool installations rarely come with fancy automated controls because the pump motors are designed to be operational for 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. Unlike home swimming pools that really only need to operate 4-7 hours each day. The only requirement is there be a disconnect means to turn off the pump motors for servicing them, which is what was used in the gray metal boxes to the upper right in the photo. This disconnect by the National Electrical Code must have two (2) requirements: 1. Within Sight Of The Pump Motors, and 2. within 50 ft. Sometimes the disconnect can be just 10 ft away, yet around the corner and out of sight which fails one of the two requirements. This National Electrical Code also applies to residential homes as well.
