Pool/Spa Light UL Approved Junction Boxes are required on all lights associated with water installations. They must be installed at least 8 inches above water level. This is because the PVC pipe and light cord that comes to these boxes, begin in the pool/spa and continue with the PVC FULL OF WATER FOR THE LIFE OF THE POOL. That means this junction box has to be above the pool/spa water level so water does not get into it and short out the electrical. Most of the time these boxes are installed and seen very easily. This particular installation is a good one because they were installed with new landscaping around them, and the bushes will grow, eventually no one will see them as they are not very pretty.
