Pool and Spa lights for all swimming pools in the USA are supposed to be controlled by a dedicated 20 amp breaker on its own circuit with nothing else operating on it. What amazes me over the 44 years we have been in business, is how many times we get to a remodel of an existing swimming pool, and find the breakers to the lights are often on the same breakers that operate the pump motors. I have even seen the pool lights on a 100 amp breaker, which makes no sense. No matter what brand of breaker box you have in your home, the lights get installed on a single pole 20 amp breaker. That breaker supplies a 20 amp GFCI outlet that protects the pool/spa lights and the people in the water.
