Low Voltage Lighting (14 Volts Or Less) for pools and spas used to be the old style way of doing things from the 1960’s and 1970’s. It was rare to find Low Voltage Lights in any pool built after that time period, until recently. The new Low Voltage Lights available are color changing and they sync up together when more than 1 is installed. The only difference between these lights and the high voltage lights (120 Volts) is that they come with a transformer to convert the house voltage of 120 volts to 12-14 volts. Depending on which brand of Low Voltage Light you get, some require 12 volts, while other require 14 volts. The transformers all have adjustable voltage taps on them to adjust the volts from 12-14. These new lights are much safer than high voltage lights and are much smaller in size (4 inches in circumference compared to 14 inches), yet put out the same amount of light.
