Air Blowers for spas are quite common and have been in use for over 50 years. An Air Blower actually sends air into the pipes and wall jets that supply booster pump water to the spa, to help give the water a push and act more of a massage agent than without the Air Blower. They used to be horribly loud, but now they are much more quiet due to the problem of disturbing neighbors. The manufacturers have manage to quiet them down so much that now they are not a nuisance like they were in the past. Many owners have no idea that the large 2 inch pipe the black colored blower sits on in the back of the photo, is actually full of water from the spa and reaches to about 3 feet from the actual blower. The blower pushes that water back into the spa and then delivers the air to the water jets. This only takes about 15 seconds to perform and then the blower it optimal. If you see an Air Blower installed on pool/spa installations, you will notice it is usually installed higher up in the air than anything else due to the pipe being almost full of water.
