Clearance For Electrical Installations

November 30, 2023

We were called to this location by a homeowner due to the pool builder filing for bankruptcy, which happens a lot more than you can imagine. Every pool builder we have ever known over 43 years, gets most of the money upfront, so there is nothing a homeowner can do when the builder disappears and pool is never finished, or it fails electrical inspection and has to be completely re-wired like this job. The electrician the pool builder used installed the control panel directly above the existing gas meter. Electrical installations MUST be installed no less than 36 inches to the left or right of a gas meter. AND, the installation must have 36 inches of clearance directly in front of the electrical controller, so it can be maintained by the homeowner or service person. This installation had neither. Since the homeowner had a gunited hole in their back yard, and 80% of the pool finished, they decided to hire subcontractors such as us to finish things up. We give all homeowners the same same price as we would a builder in these cases as they have been ripped off.
